Fifty-seven United Way volunteers have completed their review of local charities that requested United Way funding and the have awarded $553,445 to those organizations.  The volunteers spent several weeks studying the budgets, program success and governance of the organizations before awarding the funds.  The new funding levels will begin in July and the organizations will receive a monthly check from United Way for the next twelve months.
