United Way Grants $553,445 To Local Charities
|
|
Fifty-seven United Way volunteers have completed their review of local charities that requested United Way funding and the have awarded $553,445 to those organizations. The volunteers spent several weeks studying the budgets, program success and governance of the organizations before awarding the funds. The new funding levels will begin in July and the organizations will receive a monthly check from United Way for the next twelve months.

2009-2010 Campaign Exceeds Last Year
|
|
Donattions to the 2009-2010 United Way Campaign have exceeded those made last year. The total as of April 30 is $742,414. $740,011 was pledged in 2008-2009. The new total brings us to 99% of our campaign goal. United Way campaign volunteers are grateful for the strong show of support from our donors, especially during this difficult time for many families. Sixty-three percent of pledges were from individuals who gave through workplace campaigns, an indication that employees continued to give strong support in spite of high unemployment.
